Design & Ambience

The design journey of Kilo Wine Bar was about more than decorating a space—it was about creating a story. In a building that has seen businesses come and go, the owners went the extra mile to set themselves apart. Every choice, from the furniture to the lighting, reflects the same commitment to quality as the wines they serve.

Florals have become an important part of this vision. The addition of floral arrangements brings warmth and softness to the interior. Striking a balance with the clean lines of the modern design. As the seasons shift, flowers provide subtle cues to guests. Offering a sophisticated nod to nature’s rhythm without leaning on overt seasonal or holiday décor.

“We went the extra mile with decor to really put us on the map and give us a different feel from other local places. The wines we sell are all about quality and so our branding and decor has to match to show the customers who we are.”

The Power of Dried Flowers

From the beginning, flowers and greenery were part of Kilo’s ambience, but a switch to dried flowers has proved invaluable.

In a busy hospitality environment, fresh florals can be difficult to maintain. Dried arrangements however, provide the same beauty without the upkeep. They last longer, remaining a focal point throughout the year. Providing that essential finishing touch that encourages guests to linger.

“Floral arrangements, in my opinion, give a softer detail to the overall decor. They fill a space but make it feel homely while showing attention to detail has been given. The floral arrangements are also a good transition between seasons as we are not a venue which decorates seasonally or to celebrate holidays, flowers can give a sophisticated suggestion to the change of season.”

A Reflection of the Brand

Every detail at Kilo Wine Bar has been selected with intention. From the marble bar to the warm, contemporary colour palette. The florals, too, are carefully curated to complement this vision. Blending seamlessly into the brand’s modern yet timeless aesthetic. Helping to shape the atmosphere and inviting energy that encourages visitors to return and recommend Kilo.

Looking ahead

When asked whether dried florals will remain a part of the decor at Kilo, Rebecca had no hesitation. The longevity, flexibility, and low-maintenance nature of dried arrangements make them a perfect fit for the space. For other business owners deciding if a dried floral display is right for them, her advice is simple. Dried flowers offer sophistication without the ongoing costs and challenges of fresh arrangements.

At Kilo Wine Bar, the experience is more than what’s in your glass; it’s in the details. The marble bar top, the soft glow of the lighting, the carefully chosen florals. Together, creating an atmosphere where guests feel both celebrated and at home.

“As an overall part of the decor, I do feel that flowers are an important ‘finishing touch’ which adds to the environment we have created and would encourage people to return.

I would highly recommend them to another business owner. I considered fresh flowers in the past but the cost was too high and we also found it challenging to make sure staff were keeping the water fresh. With dried flowers, they are maintenance free until they need changing depending on style requirements. They are a much more flexible option.”
